If you are here on my about page, you know that I am Deb Smouse. I'm proud to say that this year, I turned forty. I thought it would be hard, but I am settling in quite well. My twenties were years of not being sure of myself. My thirties? The years I truly discovered the real me. I'm excited to see what the forties will be. Gut feel? They are going to be fabulous. I'm divorced, though I think it's about time to say "single" instead. I am the mother to two daughters, one Bouvier des Flanders, and one ordinary guinea pig.
I am a book lover. My love affair with the written word began when I was six and hasn't left me. I read a variety of books and magazines. Food is another love. Food is something to be savored! I am not overly religious, but I do believe in a loving and forgiving God. I am Spiritual...and truly believe in the laws of Karma. In recent years I've learned that no one has to live their lives inside a box unless they choose to do so...though a cliché, I believe that life is truly too short. Life is made richer by opening your mind...and life is full of daily joys if we will only allow them.
If you want a little alphabet soup I can tell you that I have a BS, am working on my PMP, and personality wise, I am an ENTJ on the Meyers-Briggs Type indicator. I'm a native Texan and have lived the bulk of my life in a ten mile radius of my first childhood home. My roots are deep, but like a tumbleweed, I have this desire to explore new places.
Professionally, I am a consultant, and I love my business. My clients make working a joy. My love affair with the written word goes beyond reading and bleeds into writing. I have the heart of a writer, but I'm not sure I have the stomach to make it my profession. I love the way words form sentences which form paragraphs which soon tell us about the snippets of life. I get my "fix" for the written word over at All Things Girl, a fabulous (and growing) ezine, for which I serve as Editor in Chief. (since 2005). I've also founded a new e-zine: Pink Nighties. These pages at the "dot com" contain collections of some of my writings. I have the "dot net" as well, a sometimes updated blog.
If you really want to know more, email me. I maybe be slow on writing you back, but I will :)
