Daddy's Girl

It wasn't too long ago that I was talking with a friend that had recently become a grandfather. I told him that he will always be special to his granddaughter - because there is a special bond between little girls - and the grown-up men in their lives.

I never knew my grandfather, but I will always be a daddy's girl.... When I was little, I remember Saturday mornings... going with my daddy to the Auto Parts store - or tagging along as took the car to get new tires.... Good daddies make little girls feel safe, and loved - and remind us that in someone's eyes, we are special.

I'll admit to this day that I am still a bit of a daddy's girl. And all it takes is for me to make a call, and my daddy will be there.... Sometimes it's advice, because my daddy always knows how long it takes to get from Point A to Point B - and what kind of oil my car needs. Sometimes, it's a 10 PM call asking if he can bring me a roll of tape so I don't have to stop working on painting my bedroom.

But it boils down to knowing that no matter what happens in my life, my daddy will be there. I am loved. And I am special. And accepted for exactly who I am - a grown woman who still loves being a daddy's girl...
