Metamorphosis

I had a first recently.

I’m on a flight to DC and the gentleman next to me tells me that I look familiar. We go thru the regular exchange of possible places we could have met: companies we have worked for, college, favorite activates, etc – and cannot come up with a connection. Then I ask him if he does a lot of surfing, and he said yes…I mentioned that I write regularly for an on-line magazine, and he asked which one – and when I said “All Things Girl” I could see the recognition in his face. His teenage daughter had been looking at the magazine, and he came across it when checking her internet history. So I told him that actually, I was the Editor in Chief of the magazine.

The theme of this issue is “metamorphosis” and when I look back at our growth and see that we are approaching another re-design, I am amazed and think how very appropriate. Talking with him just made me smile…

I couldn’t help but smile. I am incredibly proud of All Things Girl. What began as a small personal project in 2001 by Lorissa has now grown into THIS – and moreover, is continuing to evolve and grow.

Metamorphosis. So appropriate when it comes to this little e-zine, All Things Girl. And when I sit and think about it the word metamorphosis is so very appropriate when it comes to looking at me.

I am a firm believer that if you so desire, you have the ability within to grow as a person. Now, I am still a firm believer that each person is born with a base personality that cannot change, but there are facets of a person that CAN change. Life around us is ever changing – and if you desire, you as a person can be ever evolving.

As a writer, I am self-analytical – and often incredibly self-critical. I used to regularly blog and used my writings there as a litmus as to where I had been - and how my journey in life was going.. For the past two years, I have talked about life here within ATG and use this column as a way to race the tracks of my life. I do have other writings living in the circuits of my computer…and the combination of things shows me that my core belief that a person can change is evident – and my core belief that some base pieces of a personality do NOT change.

This is the second anniversary of a regular column here at ATG and I’ve shared with the readers my opinions and beliefs – as well as my spiritual highs and emotional lows. I hope you continue to stay with us as a regular visitor to All Things Girl. I hope you read along with me and see the continual metamorphosis that I am making as a person – both the mistakes I make, and the lessons I learn.

And the incredibly wonderful metamorphosis of this much loved e-zine. Stay tuned. July 1st will show you the new face of All Things Girl. And without you, we sure wouldn’t be where we are today..
